LAST CHAPTER: REFRESHING THE PAST

Four years of struggle had gone so fast. Not considering the years of struggle, high school life has been unforgettable journey that has prepared us for the future. For the past four years which I became a high school student, I wasn’t expecting the unexpected. I was drowned by events, home works, responsibilities, problems, friends, and all other things. But then, it came to my mind that high school life could be one of the best things that could ever happen in my life. A life-challenging event mostly on my ICT Subject.

Graduation or being a part of this school is coming nearer to an end. This 4^th grading period on my ICT Subject, it is much easier than the past grading period activities because we are just refreshing on what we have done in second year high school and it was all about editing software or the Photoshop. Editing an image trough Photoshop is not easy task as long as you have enough knowledge and most of all if you have patience. In this part of my fourth year high school life, I realized that I have a lot of problems that I’ve encountered on the past grading period. But after a few months, I learned how to fix all of these. What I am trying to tell is, I learned a lot. I am very grateful to have this kind of subject that is very useful.

Goodbye to our loving teachers, our friends, alma-mater, and goodbye also to our dearest classmates but just a farewell to all the memories that had been created in this stage of our lives and it will become one of the most memorable parts of my life.

MY DREAM, MY FUTURE

“Let your dreams be bigger than your fears. Your actions louder than your words. And your faith stronger than your feelings.”

It is not uncommon for one to pursue their dreams. We all have dreams that we strive for each and every day. Dream is something that all of us need to have. It is our vision. Dream is what you want to do for your future. I believe that having a great dream, is a must to us.

My happiness in what I do is also a goal for me in my life. There is no way someone can become successful if they are not happy with what they are doing. If their job is going to make them miserable, they will never show 100% in their work and they will shake off. My dream is to be a great chef at all. I know it is not simple. But I know I can achieve it. I feel like this is my destiny. This is why I came to this world.  I do not know when or how I am going to achieve this. But it will not be easy. Another goal for the future is to be happy regardless of what I choose to do. I want to be satisfied with my decisions, to be able to accept and forgive, and most of all to be able to live up to the expectations I have for myself. I realize I cannot set my goals and dreams on the basis of others and I need to achieve things for myself. I will only accomplish my goal in being happy when I am able to live my life for myself and still able to provide love and support to others. Because being a happy and contented woman is what I dream of.

Dreams are very different from waking life, but it is extremely difficult clearly to define in what the difference consists. When we are dreaming, we are nearly always convinced that we are awake, and in some cases real experiences have been mistaken for dreams.

CHANGE: IT STARTS WITH ME

“To improve is to change;

to be perfect is to change often."

The only way to make a sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Change means that what was before wasn't perfect. People want things to be better.  It doesn't have to occur over a single dramatic event, yet, it can just happen overnight when you realize it's time to do something different.

Change is the foundation of new beginnings in career, jobs, and various other values of life. It is also essential in acquiring strength during hopeless situations. For one to move on with life as usual after a tough and challenging ordeal, need for change is all-important. Unless one changes, venturing into new rewarding opportunities remains a fantasy. But how can we attain the change we are looking for when we keep on finding the change on others? And why do people change? A very simple question but so hard to answer. Maybe they are tired of being so vulnerable that people tend to abuse it. At this point of my life, if I have the power to change things, I would probably have done a list first for I would go back first from the past and reminisced things, days where I have not considered the feelings, ideas or thoughts of other regarded to what I have done. 

Change is not easy, and some cannot accomplish the goal of changing. It also helps someone prove anything wrong, but also gives that person strength within them to help them believe that they can do better.

As they say, “Change for the better.” Sometimes if you want to see change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands. 

KANNAWIDAN YLOCOS FESTIVAL : "A Showcase of Ilocano Culture"

      Kannawidan Ylocos Festival occurs annually in the Province of Ilocos Sur. The festival marks the occasion to strengthen the Ilocano Culture, recognized Ilocos Sur's sons and daughters who brought honor to their province, celebrate abundant harvest or just to celebrate the Ilocano spirit  that continues to drive locals to boost their home province.

          The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The Ilocos Sur, our very own province has rich, stunning cultures and traditions and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these kinds of traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the televisions, computer, internet, and other things that may addicted to them.

         Ilocos Sur came back to the past during the period party that is held at Vigan City, Ilocos Sur at Vigan Plaza Hotel. Participants came with their old fashioned dresses as they party to the tune of old songs as they try to recollect all the memories of the old Ilocos.

               

REFLECTION, 3RD GRADING PERIOD

CHANGES...

“Intelligence and character are the goal of true education.”

3^rd grading period had passed. But on my third grading period under ICT subject, I have a lot of improvements mostly on blogging and making activities. I can now know how to express my ideas through blogging. Simply, I improved.  But I still have some improvements to be done with the succeeding days and months. Because sometimes, I am not in the mood to do my blogs especially on my activities in ICT subject. But what is important most? Is that we must move on and welcome the next chapter, the 4^th grading period. The last chapter.

But sometimes, I was so sad for knowing the truth that we are getting closer to the end. A few months to be with our classmates and friends at school. And seriously, I'm not ready yet.

NEW YEAR, NEW ME!

New Year! A fresh start. A new chapter in our life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discover and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery.

First of all, I resolved to spend less time talking and more time doing. The past year had been a very noisy one as my friends and I spent so much time gossiping and talking nonsense. This year we cannot afford such a luxury. There are many assignments to be done. So, it is action time and I shall devote the year to it. Secondly, I have to spend less time in front of the television set and the computer. These are fun thing but they are also very consuming. The time is better spent within my books. Otherwise, I might run out of time in the end. I have to make the effort to get away from these very addictive time wasters. Physical activities also include the time wasted in shopping malls and fast-food outlet. Again these are fun things to do while they last, but I have to outgrow them. Besides, these activities are taxing on the pocket.

I hope that in this year, we make mistakes. Because if we are making mistakes, then we are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing ourselves, changing ourselves, and also changing our world. We’re doing things we've never done before, and more importantly, we're doing something.

ESSENCE OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas to me is a celebration, which includes spending time with my family, decorating the entire house, inside and out, and shopping, for the people I love. Doing this with the people I love is what means the most to me. It is also a time for Santa to come.

Spending Christmas with my family is very important to me. We usually gather and celebrate at our house. We spend the day baking cookies, preparing a big Christmas dinner together with all our relatives and specially having clingy moments together. I and my mother are always buy candles that will make the house smell festive. We try to change the decorations, which we put out every year. The men finish up just about the same time as, we women and then it is time to decorate the tree together. The children love this the most. Most of the ornaments have been collected over the years and are very old. They have become real family treasures. We all have a favorite one that we each put on the tree. All the children put their First Christmas ornament on the tree that I brought, as a gift. I am not usually a shopper, but during the Christmas season, I actually enjoy shopping. I rarely go into department stores, but during the Christmas season, I love to shop. Some of my relatives love to see each other. They spend the day playing games and sharing their new gifts and toys that Santa Claus brought for each of them. They get so eager to decorate, that it is hard to restrain them. One thing I also think about when people talk about Christmas is Santa. I think about the anticipation of getting gifts. I think about fuzzy brown reindeer flying in the night sky. I think of elves too! Elves are the tiny people who make the things you would get on Christmas.

I feel so fortunate, to have my family throughout the year, but especially, at Christmas time. When showing, my family just how much I love them and what exactly they mean to me. That is so very important to me. Christmas, for me is about being with family, loving each other and showing each other just exactly how we all feel. These are the things I think of when I hear Christmas. This is what Christmas means to me.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is one of the most important global issues facing the world today. Climate change has the potential to drastically impact the future of the human race, and is intrinsically linked to the water supply across the world.

Sometimes, we are not aware of this kind of problem. Some people wouldn't care about it. They did not know that climate change can also cause into death. Through increase in temperature, people will suffer from different diseases such as on skin and it can also cause dehydration. The cases of hypertension and heart attack will increase also. It can affect every person including our health. This climate change is either the revenge or warning of nature because of our wrong doings to it. This may stop if we people would have a discipline that can manage the nature wisely.

"OUTPOURING HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH LITERACY AND ENGLISH PROFICIENCY"

Nowadays, all of us can build talents, skills and especially in speaking our universal language which is English. But most of us, the Filipinos are usually used our language which is Tagalog and others but we should bear in our mind that we also have the right to use our universal language.

The importance of having an outpouring hearts and minds is that we can express ourselves very well. We can deliver our ideas through writing and speaking. We also have a wide knowledge about language through our hearts and minds because it is important to us. Yes! Language is really important to us because it has the properties of productivity, recursively, and displacement, and relies entirely on social convention and learning. Its complex structure affords a much wider range of expressions than any known system of animal communication

. But because it is one of the most difficult languages to learn it is important to focus on exactly why it is you want to learn English.

We should learn to love English language because it is very important to us because we can use this in communicating other people especially in other countries.

"EQUAL RIGHTS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES."

Before looking into the concepts of gender inequalities, we must first explore gender itself which is the division into two groups - men and women.

Men and Women were Created Equal. Men are not superior to women; they are equal in every way. Although it is true that society has stereotyped women into traditional roles, this preconceived notion, is totally false. Action to promote the concept of equality in our society needs to be taken. Women have been fighting for equality for many decades.

Many men have subtly degraded women for many years. It's either that many women do not notice it or choose to look the other way. It is disturbing to see that in society today I see as many unjust women as men. Most women have declared that women and men should have equal rights and I, as a woman, have to agree. However, many women today are abusing their rights for their benefit. What happened to equal rights? We may have equality in rights but we are not created equal, yet in some situations, e.g., in the workplace, many women lash out their anger and blame men. We are put on earth to do different things. We are built differently and we think differently. Naturally, women and men will have disagreements now and then.

Many women still believe that most men today view women as inferior, but when the fight for equality becomes distorted, women can be as sexist, prejudice and biased as men.
